Albert Heijn is the largest supermarket chain of the Netherlands. With almost a thousand stores their objective to reduce their overall footprint is high on the agenda. As front runners in terms of energy efficiency they continuously search for new solutions that benefit their buildings. The owner of Albert Heijn Elst was open to see what sort of solutions could optimise his building’s performance. With our 4-step approach we have established a data driven roadmap that will reduce his energy consumption with approximately 26%.

In consultation with our client we installed a patented Voltage Optimisation system that improves the quality of the supplied power with a 99.9% efficiency. The results of this solution can be found in reduced harmonics, lower phase imbalance and the optimal voltage for the equipments design.

We analysed the generated and historical data which resulted in the identification of different solutions, but also results in a baseline against we can measure savings.

As a first step we installed a Voltage Optimisation system that stabilises the voltage at the optimal voltage for the equipments design. Priorly it fluctuated around 242 Volts which was caused by both the grid instability and the existing solar panels. The patented system reduces harmonics and lowers the phase imbalance which is beneficial for most equipment.
